This Is Why I Think Google Adsense "Ad Fill Rate" Is Pointless... |
By going into your Adsense account, selecting "My Ads" and then "Ad Balance" you will come across a slider bar to adjust the "Ad Fill Rate" as default it is set at 65% and if you are using Auto ads that 65% fill-rate might be OK and give your users a better experience.
But once you get used to Adsense and start to learn where to put your own ads that 65% suddenly doesn't seem so good because it means only 65% of the time those specially selected Ad spaces are filled, meaning 35% they are left EMPTY! So why on earth would you set that bar any lower than 100%? Now, you might say that Google has the stats and data to back-up this "better user experience" percentage, but no matter how many of my own sites I experiment with, putting the lower 65% setting using Adsense A/B testing every single time the 100% experiment won with no loss in readership numbers!

Showing No Ads is Pointless! |
Like I said at the start, maybe with Google Auto Ads this will make sense, but if like me you have dedicated Ad spaces make sure that bar is at 100% because at the end of the day an empty ad space is a pointless ad space.
