What Is the Easiest Way to Add Adsense to a WordPress Site or Blog?

While they are not always the best option the easiest way to add Adsense to a WordPress powered site or blog is Google Adsense AutoAds. In this post, I will take you through all the steps to add it to your site in the quickest and easiest way possible...

This is the Auto-Ads Code you Need (Red Box)

Getting the Auto-Ads Code

Simple log into your Adsense account and click on "My Ads" then click on "Setup Auto Ads" and you should be presented with the screen below. (Copy this code in the red highlighted box). The official Adsense advice at this point is "After you've generated the ad code for your Auto ads, you'll need to place the code once on each page that you want to show the ads. You should place your ad code in the <head> tag (or at the top of the body) of your site page."

What does it mean by page? In fact, it means you can add this code to a single page, or you can add it to your site to show on every single page and post! To do the latter you need to do this...

Adding the Auto-Ads Code to Your Site

You might need to log into your hosting account to do this so its best to stick to one WordPress theme and add it to it.

If you have the option log into your WordPress site and click "appearance" and then "editor". Then you need to find the Theme Header (header.php) and simply place the AutoAds code under the code "<head>" (not </head>) and save the file or maybe update.

Insert the Auto-Ads code after the <Head> section of code

But if you don't have the "editor" option in your Wordpress Dashboard simple log into your hosting account, find the "File Manager", then go into the "WP-Content" folder, then the "themes" folder. then you need to remember what theme your site is currently using (you can find this by looking at your WordPress dashboard and clicking on "Appearance" and "Themes" This first theme that says "Active" is the folder name you need to find.) Once you have found the folder with your theme in it you then need to find the "header.php" file. Edit this "header.php" file and add the Auto-Ads code just after the code "<head>"  (not </head>) and save the file or maybe update.
