Adsense Removes “If no ads available” Option, But Does Anyone Care?

If you ask me this was one of the best and most underused options when it comes to making your own Ad-units. But the truth is next to no-one used it! For this post, I will explain what it is...was and why you might miss it even though you didn't know it existed in the first place!

What Was The “If no ads available” Option?

This was an option to show a self-made banner if there were no ads to show in that ad unit. Most people (like myself) used it to show Amazon Affiliate banners when there were no Adsense ads to show and it really helped boost site revenue. (you can read more about it by clicking here). Sadly it was a real hassle to set up, especially with each ad-unit you placed and often it wouldn't earn you much anyway, just a few extra clicks.

So what is going to happen to ad-units if there is no ad to show now that this option is no longer available? It will be pretty much the same as before. Unless you used this option it would show a blank space or collapse the ad space and that is what ALL your ad-units will now do moving forward. I'm pretty sure if a lot more people knew how to use this option they would have used it a lot more, but now it is gone and I for one will be sad to see it go.

If you used this option do let me know in the comments below. As always if you have a question about this post or anything else Adsense related do let me know in the comments below.
