Why Are So Many People Seeing Their Ads Stopped?

If like me you help out in the Adsense help forum you would have seen a LOT of people complaining about their ads suddenly stopping. They are not banned, not under investigation and many people have been running ads for years without problems! So what is going on? In this post, I will hopefully get to the bottom of things...

Why Is This Happening?

Let's deal with the most obvious question first. The "why"? As per usual Adsense is not saying anything or giving any advice to people who have suffered from this issue, but I think I have got to the bottom of it. You see, the majority of sites people have been complaining their ads have gone on are not ready for AdSense in the first place. Maybe it is the wrong sort of content, the wrong sort of site, bad quality content or even a total lack of content! But if that is true, why did they see ads in the first place?

Here is What I Think is Going On...

Do you remember the good old days when you could apply for an Adsense account, then add whatever blogs and sites you wanted to that account? Well, those days have gone now and you need to verify and have tested every site or blog you add to your account. What I think has happened are two things. People who have been approved previously with sites that weren't good enough for ads are seeing them stopped. Then the other thing that I think is happening is the quality of site needed to run Adsense has increased meaning some sites just fall short of this quality level and have seen their ads stopped as well.

So What Can You Do If It Happens To You?

The truth is there really isn't a whole lot you can do. You can try applying for one of the many Adsense alternatives out there, or you can take some time to shift your site or blog into a more Adsense friendly position. Maybe make some changes to content, maybe make a lot more content, or even remove some content that isn't Adsense friendly. With no guidance on this, it really is a guessing game. But if you do drop me your URL in the comments below I will take a look at your site and I might be able to tell you why your ads have stopped.

As always if you have a question about this post or anything else Adsense related do let me know in the comments below.
