How to Show Only Category Specific Ads on a Blog or Website

There are various reasons people want to show only certain categories of ads on their website and I won't be going into those in this post. But what I will be going into is how to do just that. I will walk you through the options, what each one means and the types of ads you might expect to see from each one...

Showing Only Category Specific Ads...

The first thing we need to do is log into our Adsense account on a PC. The mobile site tends to make things harder, but it is still possible to do this guide. So, once logged in you need to click on "Blocking controls" then if you have more than one site you will need to click on "all sites". This will now take you to this page...

Next, you obviously need to click on "Manage General categories" which is the blue writing at the bottom of the "General categories" box. This will then take you to this page...

As you can see there are switches at the end of each line (of which there are over 200, but you can search for the one you want in the search box at the top of the page) which turn off and on each category. So if you don't want to show a specific category you can turn that single one-off. But if you want to show just one single specific category you can turn them all off except the one you want to show. And it really is as easy as that, but I think you do need to be aware that this will result in a significant drop in ad-revenue. But it is possible to do so.

Some of the more...'risque' categories include Romance & Relationships (found inside Family & Community), Faith & Belief (also found inside Family & Community) and of course Poker & Casino Games (found inside the Hobbies, Games & Leisure category.) While I have said this before, do be aware that any playing around with the blocking controls for any category will result in a loss of revenue. As always if you have any other questions relating to Adsense do leave them in the comments box below and will answer them there or make a whole post for you with your answer.
